Bromer Booksellers provide $2 million gift to Boston Athenaeum
David J. Bromer (far left) and Anne C. Bromer join Bromer Curator of Rare Books and Manuscripts Stanley Ellis Cushing in the announcement of a $2 million gift to endow the Anne C. and David J. Bromer Curator of Rare Books and Manuscripts at the Boston Athenaeum. The Bromers, proprietors of Bromer Booksellers specializing in aesthetically rare books in Boston since 1980, are noted authorities in such specialties as private press books, "fore-edge" painting, one-of-a-kind binding designs, early children's books, and miniature books. Both longtime Boston Athenaeum supporters, Anne studied library science at Simmons College and David holds three degrees, including a doctorate, from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
