Delta Founders Day donations

Glen Oak Community Learning Center Principal Annette Coleman (left) and Harrison Birth through 8th Grade Community Learning Center Principal Veralee Smith show off plaques March 24 to be displayed in both Peoria, Illinois, schools in conjunction with book donations for their school libraries from Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. A total of 1,200 books were donated to three Peoria schools, including 12 boxes from Gregory and Vanessa Calloway, as a component of the sorority’s statewide Founders Day. The Calloways’ donation was made possible through the support of ALA’s Association for Library Service to Children. Gregory is ALA’s associate executive director of finance, and Vanessa is a science teacher at Chute Middle School in Evanston, Illinois.
