Endowment to aid children's programming in Indianapolis
Indianapolis District 11 City-County Councilor Steve Talley (right) joins Mayor Greg Ballard at the February 21 announcement that he will use a major share of his current and future council salary for an endowment in the name of his late wife to be used for children's programming through the Indianapolis Public Library Foundation. The Donna D. Talley Story Theatre Fund, established by the library foundation and managed by the Central Indiana Community Foundation, began with a founding gift of $25,000. It will be supplemented by Talley from his council salary over the next four years totaling approximately $52,000, along with a 100% contribution from his future city-county council retirement plan. Following her 2006 death, the family spearheaded a $12,000 privately-funded memorial campaign to create a story theater at Donna Talley's neighborhood Indianapolis Marion County Public Library East 38th Street branch.
