Library Design Showcase
Kinnear Centre for Creativity and Innovation, Paul D. Fleck Library and Archives, Banff Centre, Alberta
Sustainable Construction: The Kinnear Centre was designed to target LEED Gold certification. The building features natural light in all occupied spaces and natural ventilation in classrooms and the central galleria. All interior finishes were selected on the basis of long-term performance and low emissions, while sun shading and the use of low-emissivity glass reduce energy use by retaining heat in winter while reflecting it in summer. More than 75 percent of construction waste was recycled.
