Newport News branch wins statewide

Newport News (Va.) Public Library System Director Izabela M. Cieszynski (left) accepts an award for Outstanding Youth Program from Virginia Public Library Directors Association President Carol Vincent. The library system was acknowledged for the "Visions of the University: Four Centuries of Discovery" program held in conjunction with the"Visions of the Universe"  travel exhibition at the Virgil I. Grissom branch that ended its run February 15.  The exhibit was presented by the Space Telescope Science Institute, Baltimore, Maryland; the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, Cambridge, Massachusetts; and ALA"s Public Programs Office, through funding from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
