Rushdie headlines LAPL’s million-dollar fundraiser
Salman Rushdie (left) and Los Angeles City Librarian John F. Szabo hold the Tiffany-designed multifaceted crystal Rushdie just accepted as the winner of LAPL’s 2012 Literary Award September 23. The library foundation’s evening gala in honor of the acclaimed author raised $1 million for the library. Rushdie told celebrants that “libraries have been at the center of my life.”
