Qur'an Read-Out

Barbara Jones, director of the American Library Association’s Office for Intellectual Freedom, and Leonard Kniffel, editor and publisher of American Libraries, held a 9/11 commemoration at the street entrance to ALA headquarters in Chicago, making  a statement to the world that librarians value reading, learning, and tolerance over book-burning, fear, and ignorance. Standing with them were Gerald Hankerson of the Council on American-Islamic Relations and Kiran Ansari of the Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago.

Well Done ALA

As a member of ALA, a librarian and a Muslim, I am so proud to a part of an organization such as ALA.  You have shown the world that ignorance and prejudices are not tolerated. I only wish that  more organizations and individuals would adhere to the example of the ALA. Well done and keep up the great work that you are doing.

What a brave, rational,

What a brave, rational, respectful, intelligent little organization is the ALA!!

Your voice should be heard above the noise of recent acts by one person in Gainesville, FL

who should not claim to speak for anyone but himself.  The terrorists who bombed the World

Trade Center did not speak for Muslims everywhere.  Your voice refuses to put them and the

misguided individual in Florida in control.  Thank you.

Qu'ran ReadOUT

On behalf of all intellectual freedom loving citizens of the state of Florida, I thank you for hosting this event.

Qur'an Read-Out

Thank you for you exceptional efforts. Gee, I did not see this on the front pages of the newspapers. It takes courage, dignity and honesty to stand for what is good and right, even though not popular.  Perhaps, citizens of the world ought to see the value of the libraries’ philosophies and its potential for  positive influences.
