Check Out NetGalley “Armchair ALA”
Earlier this year, the ALA announced the official launch of a new member benefit program for members in partnership with NetGalley. ALA members who sign up to request digital galleys from NetGalley can now add their ALA member number to their profile, to speed request approval and access to upcoming titles. NetGalley’s catalog currently includes new titles from more than 150 publishers, and galleys can be read securely on all major reading devices and tablets. There is no charge for readers to use the site, and ALA members can register with NetGalley at www.netgalley.com.This program will help ALA members use digital galleys to preview more upcoming titles, and make more informed purchasing decisions for their collections. In addition, this partnership will introduce more ALA members to NetGalley as a free resource for gaining early digital access to upcoming titles from participating publishers.
Onto the ALA Annual Conference. This year, NetGalley is not exhibiting at the ALA Annual Conference in Anaheim, but has launched Armchair ALA to serve as a connection point between those at home and those at the show. You can spread the word via Twitter (#ArmchairALA), and for those of you lucky librarians who are in Anaheim, share the wealth and share the inside scoop in the Comments section of the blog post. Which authors did you meet, which publishers had the best giveaways or beautiful booths, and what titles are you most excited about?
NetGalley has also compiled a list of titles you won’t want to miss–either at the show or from the comfort of your own chairs courtesy of NetGalley. NetGalley Roundup: ALA Annual Preview Edition!
