Tennessee Library Flood Relief

Suan Earl (left), president of the Tennessee Library Association, presents a $1,000 check to Sue Hasse, library/media specialist at Kingston Springs Elementary School, to be used for clean-up and rebuilding efforts after the school and library suffered damage during the May 1 flood in middle Tennessee. Six feet of water poured into the school. The library lost nearly all of its materials with shelving that was completely submerged. As the waters seceded, one witness noted that the library looked “as if a hurricane had struck from within; chairs, books, and computers had apparently swirled around together when the flood waters rushed in, and one chair was actually impaled into the wall."
