Electronic Collection Development
Question: Is there a collection development policy would address the shift from print to electronic materials, the selection criteria for such materials, and what kind of reference materials should be preferably purchased in electronic format compared to the ones we should keep in print format?
Answer: ALA does not have a collection development policy for the electronic materials, however, we do have various guidelines to help you create your own policy. The ALA Library has gathered some resources on electronic collection development and more general collection policies.

Digital collection development
You might ask the librarian of the Cushing Academy in Massachusetts for advice. According to The New York Times, they recently gave away most of the school library’s 20,000 books and converted the library to a digital center.
