ALA President Molly Raphael and Executive Director Keith Michael Fiels invite you to the 2012 Virtual Membership Meeting (VMM) on Wednesday, June 6 from 3 pm – 4:30 pm CDT, online. Members are invited to hear from ALA leadership and participate in the discussions and resolution process. 

Because our interactive platform is limited to 1,000 participants, pre-registration is required. Registration has just begun and is available through the start of the meeting on June 6.  To register for the 2012 Virtual Membership Meeting, please go to https://ala.ilinc.com/register/yzxhzss.  

The meeting will begin with a “State of the Association” update, a progress report on implementing ALA’s 2015 Strategic Plan, and a recap of President Molly Raphael’s initiatives. These updates will be followed by an opportunity to discuss and vote on any resolutions offered by members, and an open forum on topics chosen by members in a recent online survey. These topics include Ebooks and Libraries, the Transformation of Libraries, and Improving the Role of Libraries in Society.

With a recent change in the ALA Bylaws allowing for both online and in-person Membership Meetings, this inaugural Virtual Membership Meeting is a great opportunity for members not able to attend Annual Conference to participate in ALA governance.  Resolutions submitted via ALA Connect and voted on during the VMM will be forwarded to ALA Council for action.  Make your voice and ideas heard by submitting a Resolution.  Memorials and Tributes are welcome and will be honored during the VMM.
