The 2012 Emerging Leaders Team G is exploring ways to transform and extend the former American Library Association (ALA) annual volunteer service day, Libraries Build Communities, into Librarians Build Communities (LBC).

Three categories of joint memberships are offered by the American Library Association: Joint Student Membership, Joint Library Support Staff Membership, and Joint Trustee Membership. Now join online via ALA’s secure database! If you prefer to pay by check or money order, you may also complete and mail in a paper form!

Between Thanksgiving and the last days of December 2011, students in East Carolina University’s Master of Library Science department, in Greenville, North Carolina, gathered 239 books and materials to donate to homeless shelters, after-school programs, hospitals, and libraries in communities throughout North Carolina.
