Ross Atkinson Lifetime Achievement Award to Barbara Tillett

<p> Dr. Barbara Tillett, recently retired Chief of the Policy and Standards Division of the Library of Congress, is awarded the 2013 <a href="http://www.ala.org/alcts/awards/profrecognition/atkinsonlife">Ross Atkinson Lifetime Achievement Award</a> given by The Association of Library Collections and Technical Services (<a href="http://www.ala.org/alcts">ALCTS</a>).&nbsp; The ALCTS&#39; Ross Atkinson Lifetime Achievement Award honors the memory of Ross Atkinson, a distinguished library leader, author and scholar whose extraordinary service to ALCTS and the library community-at-large serves as a model for those in the field.&nbsp; The award, sponsored by EBSCO, will be presented to Dr. Tillett at the ALCTS Awards Ceremony, June 30, during the 2013 American Library Association Annual Conference in Chicago, Ill.</p>

Judy Kuhagen Mann Citation recipient

<p> The Association for Library Collections &amp; Technical Services (<a href="http://www.ala.org/alcts">ALCTS</a>) announces that Judith A. Kuhagen is the recipient of the 2013 <a href="http://www.ala.org/alcts/awards/profrecognition/margaretmann">Margaret Mann Citation</a> presented by its Cataloging and Metadata Management&nbsp; Section (CaMMS). The Mann Citation will be presented at the ALCTS Awards Ceremony at the American Library Association Annual Conference in Chicago, June 30, 2013.</p>

First Step Award to Jennifer Castaldo

<p> The Association for Library Collections &amp; Technical Services (<a href="http://www.ala.org/alcts">ALCTS</a>) announces that Jennifer Castaldo, Electronic Resources Manager/Distance Education Librarian at the Johns Hopkins University, is the recipient of the 2013 <a href="http://www.ala.org/alcts/awards/grants/firststep">First Step Award</a>-A Wiley Professional Development Grant presented by the ALCTS Continuing Resources Section.&nbsp; The award will be presented on Sunday, June 30, at the ALCTS Awards Ceremony during the 2013 American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference in Chicago, Ill.</p>

Randy Silverman receives Banks/Harris Preservation Award

<p> Randy Silverman, Preservation Librarian at the University of Utah, is the recipient of the 2013 <a href="http://www.ala.org/alcts/awards/profrecognition/banksharris">Paul Banks and Carolyn Harris Preservation Award</a>, given annually by the Association for Library Collections &amp; Technical Services (<a href="http://www.ala.org/alcts">ALCTS</a>) Preservation and Reformatting Section (PARS).&nbsp; The award, sponsored by Preservation Technologies, L. P., consists of $1,500 and a citation.&nbsp; It recognizes the contribution of a professional preservation specialist who has been active in the field of preservation of library materials.&nbsp; The award will be presented on Sunday, June 30, at the ALCTS Awards Ceremony during the 2013 American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference in Chicago.</p>

Piercy Award to Xan Arch

<p> The Association for Library Collections &amp; Technical Services (<a href="http://www.ala.org/alcts">ALCTS</a>) has named Xan Arch, Director of Collection Services, Reed College, Portland, Oregon, the winner of the 2013 <a href="http://www.ala.org/alcts/awards/profrecognition/estherjpiercy">Esther J. Piercy Award</a>.&nbsp; The award will be presented on Sunday, June 30, at the ALCTS Awards Ceremony during the 2013 American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference in Chicago, Ill.</p>

2013 Cunha/Swartzburg Award to Martha Anderson

<p> The Association for Library Collections &amp; Technical Services&rsquo; (ALCTS) Preservation and Reformatting Section Committee for the Hollinger Metal Edge sponsored George Cunha and Susan Swartzburg Preservation Award has selected Martha Anderson as the 2013 recipient. The award will be presented on Sunday, June 30, at the ALCTS Awards Ceremony during the 2013 American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference in Chicago, Illinois.</p>

Swanberry-Hanley receives Merrill-Oldham Grant

CHICAGO – Marianne Swanberry-Hanley, assistant librarian/assistant conservator at Syracuse University’s Bird Library, has been awarded the Jan Merrill-Oldham Professional Development Grant.

<p> Marianne Swanberry-Hanley, Assistant Librarian/Assistant Conservator at Syracuse University&rsquo;s Bird Library, has been awarded the <a href="http://www.ala.org/alcts/awards/grants/jmogrant">Jan Merrill-Oldham Professional Development Grant</a>.</p> <p> The Jan Merrill-Oldham Professional Development Grant is given by the <a href="http://www.ala.org/alcts/mgrps/pars">Preservation and Reformatting Section</a> (PARS) of the Association for Library Collections &amp; Technical Services (<a href="http://www.ala.org/alcts">ALCTS</a>) to support travel to the American Library Association Annual Conference.&nbsp; The grant is intended to encourage and support preservation librarians that are new-to-the-field to become involved in the ALA conference.&nbsp; The recipient will attend the Preservation Administrators Interest Group meeting and at least one other PARS interest group meeting.&nbsp; The recipient will write about the experience for <em>ALCTS Newsletter Online.</em>&nbsp;&nbsp; The grant is sponsored by the Library Binding Institute.</p>

HARRASSOWITZ Leadership in Library Acquisitions Award to Rick Anderson

<p> The <a href="http://www.ala.org/alcts/mgrps/as">Acquisitions Section</a> of the Association for Library Collections &amp; Technical Services (<a href="http://www.ala.org/alcts">ALCTS</a>) has selected Rick Anderson, Interim Dean and&nbsp; University Librarian at the University Utah&rsquo;s Marriott Library, to receive the 2013 <a href="http://www.ala.org/alcts/awards/profrecognition/leadershipinacq">HARRASSOWITZ Leadership in Library Acquisitions Award</a>.&nbsp; The award will be presented on Sunday, June 30, at the ALCTS Awards Ceremony during the 2013 American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference in Chicago.</p>

Lizabeth A. Wilson wins 2013 Hugh C. Atkinson Memorial award

CHICAGO — Lizabeth (Betsy) A. Wilson, dean of university libraries at the University of Washington (UW), has been named the 2013 winner of the Hugh C. Atkinson Memorial Award. Wilson will receive a cash award and citation during the ALA Annual Conference in Chicago.
