Banks, Hudson, and Moorman elected to ALA Executive Board

CHICAGO – Robert (Rob) Banks, Alexia I. Hudson and John A. Moorman have been elected to serve on the American Library Association (ALA) Executive Board. The new board members were elected by the ALA Council in a vote taken at the 2012 ALA Midwinter Meeting held Jan. 20 to 24 in Dallas.

Two Friends groups win ALTAFF’s National Friends of Libraries Week Awards

COA announces accreditation actions

CHICAGO — The Committee on Accreditation (COA) of the American Library Association (ALA) announces accreditation actions taken at the 2012 ALA Midwinter Meeting in Dallas.

Continued accreditation status was granted to the following programs:

ALA Youth Media Awards winners post reaction videos to award’s YouTube channel

CHICAGO – On Jan. 23 the ALA announced winners of 18 awards that represent the best of the best in children’s and young adult literature and media.

ALA resolution on publishers and practices that discriminate against library users

DALLAS - In a resolution adopted by the Council of the American Library Association (ALA), it has been resolved that the ALA:

1. Opposes any discriminatory policies of publishers and distributors which adversely impact access to content by library users.
