For the December ebook report, Douglas County (Colo.) Libraries looked at availability of books the top 10 New York Times Children’s Chapter Books list. The mix of fiction and nonfiction on the list reveals the problem of trying to force a move towards digital content.

ALCTS awards Transforming Collections micro grants

CHICAGO — Transforming Collections micro grants have been awarded to two projects: preserving digitally published open access works and digitizing a foundation collection in health sciences. The micro grants of $1,500 each were given to the University of Maryland Baltimore County library and the University of Maryland Health Sciences and Human Services Library.

ALA OITP hosts 'Online & Above the Radar: Ensuring the Use & Discoverability of Digital Collections' panel Jan. 21

<p> The ALA Office for Information Technology Policy (OITP) will continue the conversation about libraries increasing access to digitized materials with the panel &ldquo;Online &amp; Above the Radar: Ensuring the Use &amp; Discoverability of Digital Collections&rdquo;at the ALA Midwinter Meeting. Organized by Gwen Glazer (author of &ldquo;<a href="http://www.ala.org/ala/aboutala/offices/oitp/publications/oitpperspectives/oitp_perspectives_ju.pdf" target="_blank" title="Digitizing Hidden Collections in Public Libraries">Digitizing Hidden Collections in Public Libraries</a>&rdquo;)and Jason Kucsma (co-editor of <u>Digitization in the Real World)</u>, the panel will include several speakers from diverse parts of the library world.
