Chris Hagar joins San Jose (Calif.) State University's School of Library and Information Science as a full-time faculty member this fall.

Alta Eisenpress, 87, librarian at Evelyn and Monte Daniels Memorial Library's Temple Israel Center in While Plans, New York, died February 19.

Betty Flanders Erion, 93, a former school librarian, died March 16.

Anna Ferguson, 29, school librarian at Rantoul (Ill.) City Schools died of a brain aneurysm February 12

Amanda H. Fraser, 89, retired acquisitions librarian at Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana, died March 29. 

Elnora Gayden, school librarian at Martin Luther King Middle School  in Monroe, Louisiana, died  suddenly February 12.  She reportedly went to the hospital to visit her sister, who also died the same day, and collapsed in the hospital.

Katherine Susan Bailey Green, 96, school librarian, writer, and teacher, died February 23. She held positions in the Montclair and Newark, New Jersey, school systems and served as director of library services for East Orange Public Library. As an author, Green contributed to the World Book Encyclopedia and wrote a children's book about the American flag. She was an authority on Old English and Middle English.

Mary Louise Helwig-Rodriguez, 46, children's librarian at Little Falls (N.J.) Public Library, died March 14 after battling a recent illness. She was vocal when Gov. Chris Christie proposed funding cuts for the state's public libraries and took part in a protest rally in Trenton in spring 2010.
