Earthquake-ready

Hundreds of residents gather March 6 for the grand reopening of San Francisco Public Library’s Potrero branch, marking the 14th completed library project in the city’s Branch Library Improvement Program. The program, which supports the renovation of 16 branch libraries, is funded by a $106-million bond issue passed by voters in November 2000. The $5.4-million Potrero branch renovation included seismic retrofitting in case of an earthquake, rear windows with spectacular city views, and a new children’s area.
