Historic Style: DuPage Library System, Sugar Grove (Ill.) Public Library
Many people want nothing more than the comfort and quiet dignity of a traditional style when they go to the library. These projects, many of them historic restorations, offer just that.
The architectural concept for DuPage (Ill.) Library System’s Sugar Grove Public Library honors the public mandate to reflect the rural roots of the community. Key features include a quiet reading room with masonry fireplace, study/program rooms for small or large groups, a coffee bar, and dedicated spaces for teens, youth, and preschool patrons. The 24,500-square-foot library is located on a 5-acre site large enough to accommodate 35,000 square feet of future expansion.
