Libraries in Harmony: Darien (Conn.) Library

Darien (Conn.) Library

While not necessarily part of a building proper, the landscaping of a library has a big impact on the user’s experience. It can also have a big impact on the greenness of a construction project by reducing pollution and promoting biodiversity.

Darien (Conn.) Library reclaimed land that had become toxic from chemicals in groundwater. The site design features extensive planting of native trees and shrubs, and it includes biofiltration and storage of stormwater in retention basins under the parking area.
