Libraries in Harmony: Dexter (Mich.) District Library
While not necessarily part of a building proper, the landscaping of a library has a big impact on the user’s experience. It can also have a big impact on the greenness of a construction project by reducing pollution and promoting biodiversity.
Thirty-two locations were considered before the Dexter (Mich.) District Library selected a sloped site that overlooks a community park and a farmer’s market for its new building. Materials selected to blend with the site include brick masonry, sandstone, and curved glass walls.
