What’s Your New Year’s Resolution?
One of my professional resolutions for 2011 is to become more techno-savvy. Though I use technology every day, I often feel as if I’m falling behind. So many new things to discover, so little time.
One of the best resources that I plan on tapping into more is TechSoup. TechSoup Global is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization working towards the day when every nonprofit, library, and social benefit organization on the planet has the technology knowledge and resources they need to operate at their full potential.
Have you heard of them?
If not, may I suggest you spend a little time checking out all they have to offer for free or at deep discounted prices and sign up to receive their e-newsletter, By the Cup. (Use the form at the top left of that page to register.)
I’ve been receiving By the Cup for quite awhile and in yesterday’s edition spotted a wonderful resource list being highlighted by their GreenTech initiative which promotes and supports environmental responsibility in nonprofit and library communities entitled Cloud for Good Recommends 10 Free Online Tools by Tal Frankfurt.
A quick read through the list introduced me to Dropbox. Dropbox offers a super easy way to store, sync and share files online without a USB. I definitely plan on trying it out.
Want to know more about TechSoup’s Green Side of Computing Campaign? You can learn more about the campaign, which alerts its followers to new online services, here.
An added perk to receiving their e-newsletter is getting a new soup recipe each week. This week’s recipe for Velvet Winter Soup, which was submitted by Sandra Bendor, sounds especially delicious. Time to get the soup pot out!
